about
“When somebody kisses you, what they’re saying is, ‘I get you. You’re real, and you matter.’” Vues explore this message in “The Way That I Want You,” their new song that releases on March 19th, 2021. Vues is the alt-rock/indie-pop brainchild of singer-songwriter Michael Glines in Los Angeles.
Vues began as a four-piece band a long time ago, but since the beginning of the quarantine, Glines has taken on the vast majority of the music production on his own. Vues have previously been featured in Spotify playlists such as Surf Vibes by BekyPequi, Indie Chill & Pop by Streamefy, and Best of Indie Bonfire by Obsidian.
“I think that at the core of love and sexual desire, what we really want is actually just to be seen, because that verifies our existence.” Michael explains further, “The line, ‘I want you to see me how I see myself’ is really just a plea for acknowledgment more than anything; it’s nothing to do with sex or commitment, even though ‘The Way That I Want You’ is technically a love song in the traditional sense.”
Vues will be working toward releasing new music every month, and they’ve already got a head start.
Michael has a word for the fans, “My hope is that in some small way our music can help you or someone you know to thrive through these times. It’s pretty hard to feel seen when you literally haven’t seen anyone for almost a year, and maybe in some way music can try to fill that void.”
lyrics
I tried to give my heart to somebody else
But you still had a piece of it
I guess I wanted to tell you how I felt
But you still wouldn’t hear it
I know it’s funny but I’ve
Never had the nerve to say
What I wanted
I just wanted
To know you like you know yourself
To be wanted by you the way that I want you
To see me how I see myself
To be wanted by you the way that I want you
The way that I want you
The way that I want you
I tried to kiss you but you turned your face
Said I’m so immature
I guess I tried too hard to make you feel safe
‘Cause you’re so bored
Maybe it’s not funny that I’ve
Never had the nerve to say
What I wanted
I just wanted
To know you like you know yourself
To be wanted by you the way that I want you
To see me how I see myself
To be wanted by you the way that I want you
The way that I want you
The way that I want you
If I could tell you the truth
You might never believe me
If I could only tell you
You still might never see
To know you like you know yourself
To be wanted by you the way that I want you
To see me how I see myself
To be wanted by you the way that I want you
The way that I want you
The way that I want you
